Cada d\u00eda m\u00e1s fabricantes los sustituyen por otros de seis y hasta cuatro cilindros turboalimentados, y junto a la afluencia de modelos el\u00e9ctricos, hace pensar que quiz\u00e1 en menos de un quinquenio, los sedanes y cup\u00e9s con este tipo de motor ser\u00e1n piezas museables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pesar de estas tendencias, todav\u00eda hay suficientes compradores que valoran la ferocidad, la entrega de potencia limpia, fiabilidad y, sobre todo, la banda sonora que acompa\u00f1a a estos briosos motores de aspiraci\u00f3n natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para ellos, Lexus reserva uno de sus motores m\u00e1s ic\u00f3nicos. Es un V8 de 5.0 litros de 472 caballos de potencia y 395 libras pie de torsi\u00f3n, que conocimos hace m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada en el IS F, y que a\u00fan Lexus utiliza en el hermoso LC 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La marca nipona ha rebuscado en su cat\u00e1logo de \u00e9xitos y ha sacado el impresionante V-8 para regal\u00e1rselo al IS 500 F Sport Performance que probamos esta semana. El pasado a\u00f1o las noticias sobre el IS mejoraron a\u00fan m\u00e1s, con el modelo IS 500 F SPORT Performance, que supone una renovaci\u00f3n total del F SPORT.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como primer modelo de lo que ahora se conoce como la l\u00ednea F SPORT Performance, el IS 500 F SPORT Performance se dise\u00f1\u00f3 pensando en los compradores estadounidenses, y por ser un modelo tan reciente, hay pocos cambios que resaltar en el 2023.&nbsp; Todas las modificaciones est\u00e1n centradas en su aspecto, con nuevos dise\u00f1os de llantas y paquetes de apariencia. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se ve desde afuera?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El 2023 IS 500 F SPORT Performance llama la atenci\u00f3n, no tengo dudas. Creo que junto al LC 500, es uno de los Lexus de mejor talante. Aqu\u00ed la parrilla estilo reloj de arena es a\u00fan m\u00e1s grande, y tintada en negro brillante con contornos tambi\u00e9n negros parece algo amenazadora.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los faros elongados y el cap\u00f3 levantado (para acomodar al tama\u00f1o del motor) le dan car\u00e1cter al frente, mientras que un aler\u00f3n angular y el difusor trasero se encargan de darle personalidad a la parte trasera, sin olvidar las salidas de escape cu\u00e1druples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfY por dentro?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El interior es cl\u00e1sico de Lexus. Buena calidad, excelente acabado, pero sin mucho embrollo, m\u00e1s bien simple. Unas cuantas insignias &#8220;F Sport&#8221; salpican los umbrales de las puertas y vienen cosidas en los reposacabezas de los asientos deportivos. Por lo dem\u00e1s, el IS 500 F Sport est\u00e1 tapizado en cuero sint\u00e9tico blanco y negro con un exclusivo dise\u00f1o geom\u00e9trico en los paneles de las puertas. Lexus limita la tapicer\u00eda roja m\u00e1s interesante a determinados exteriores, por lo que, lamentablemente, no se puede optar por el rojo sobre rojo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los asientos son c\u00f3modos y de buen espacio al frente, pero algo ce\u00f1idos en la parte posterior. El maletero tambi\u00e9n queda entre los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os entre autos comparables.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tecnolog\u00eda y seguridad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No pude esconder mi sorpresa al encontrar en la consola central del nuevo IS 500 F Sport Performance el aborrecido panel t\u00e1ctil de Lexus. Hace unas semanas probando el Lexus ES 350 advert\u00ed con placer que ya no tra\u00eda esta escurridiza almohadilla estilo computadora port\u00e1til, para controlar el sistema de informaci\u00f3n y entretenimiento. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por suerte, el acabado Premium trae una pantalla t\u00e1ctil opcional de 10,3 pulgadas en lugar de la pantalla b\u00e1sica de 8,0 pulgadas. Lexus ha acercado m\u00e1s esta pantalla al conductor, por lo que manejar las entradas all\u00ed con los dedos es mucho mejor que en el resbaladizo panel t\u00e1ctil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La conexi\u00f3n con Apple CarPlay, Android Auto y Amazon Alexa es por cable, y no encontramos un cargador inal\u00e1mbrico para el tel\u00e9fono, quiz\u00e1 la \u00fanica amenidad moderna que no trae este IS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las prestaciones de seguridad activa son generosas y solo dejan por costo extra los sensores de estacionamiento, las c\u00e1maras en 360 grados y los parabrisas sensibles a la lluvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El manejo semi aut\u00f3nomo mantiene al Lexus centrado en el carril y a distancia prudencial de otros autos en la carretera, pero me amedrento algo cuando prob\u00e1ndolo en la autopista, tuve que intervenir r\u00e1pidamente para evitar una posible colisi\u00f3n frontal, pues el sistema no actu\u00f3 con la necesaria prontitud, algo que nunca hab\u00eda experimentado en otro auto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se conduce?&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El IS lleg\u00f3 a Estados Unidos en el 2001, en otro intento de Lexus de plantarle cara a los sedanes deportivos europeos. Lexus subi\u00f3 la parada el pasado a\u00f1o con la introducci\u00f3n del Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium, el auto que probamos esta semana en su modelo 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El gran atractivo de este Lexus es por supuesto el ic\u00f3nico motor en V8, con 472 caballos y 395 libras de par, suficientes para llevarle de 0 a 60 millas o 100 kil\u00f3metros en solo 4.4 segundos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Circulando por la ciudad en modo Normal o Eco, este IS 500 se conduce como cualquier otro Lexus, solo que con la ventaja a\u00f1adida de un gran motor bajo el cap\u00f3, que no se nota durante la conducci\u00f3n normal. El IS 500 es silencioso y c\u00f3modo, apacible para la conducci\u00f3n diaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agotados mis dos d\u00edas de amodorramiento, record\u00e9 que ten\u00eda a mi disposici\u00f3n 472 caballos, y coloqu\u00e9 al IS en posici\u00f3n Sport S Plus. As\u00ed cobr\u00f3 toda la vida para la que fue creado. Por carecer de turbo, el motor no tiene mucho empuje a bajas revoluciones, pero ense\u00f1a su excelente banda de potencia al pasar de las 3,000 revoluciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pisarlo a fondo para entrar a la autopista o adelantar otro auto es una motivaci\u00f3n extra, por la banda sonora del motor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hay otras mejoras t\u00e9cnicas que ayudan a su desempe\u00f1o en las carreteras sinuosas. La suspensi\u00f3n adaptativa, amortiguadores traseros de alto rendimiento y un diferencial de deslizamiento limitado, as\u00ed como rotores de freno de gran tama\u00f1o, todos en conjunto, hacen que su desempe\u00f1o deportivo sea atractivo, pero dejemos claro que no est\u00e1 a la par con sus contrincantes alemanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El IS 500 F Sport Performance es un paso resuelto en la direcci\u00f3n correcta, capaz de atraer a quienes no solo busquen el lujo y prestigio de Lexus, sino tambi\u00e9n un poco de exaltaci\u00f3n y disfrute al volante de un auto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfSi quiero uno, por cu\u00e1l me decido?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre sus similares, los sedanes deportivos de lujo, el IS 500 puede competir con precios asequibles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Lexus IS 2023 est\u00e1 disponible en seis acabados: IS 300, IS 300 AWD, IS 350 F Sport Design, IS 350 F Sport, IS 500 F Sport Performance e IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium como el que probamos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El IS 300 m\u00e1s econ\u00f3mico comienza en los $40,085, mientras que, en el otro extremo, un IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium tiene un precio m\u00ednimo de $62,770.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00bfContra qui\u00e9n compite?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La competencia m\u00e1s sustancial proviene de Alemania, en la forma de BMW 3 Series, Audi S4 o Mercedes-Benz C-Class.&nbsp; Un Acura TLX o el Genesis G90 tambi\u00e9n pueden compar\u00e1rsele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Concluyendo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lexus ha sorprendido con el IS 500 F Sport Performance, pues a todas luces, esta es una especie en extinci\u00f3n. Sus contrincantes alemanes quiz\u00e1 sean los menos sorprendidos, pues a pesar de todas sus virtudes, no llega a \u201ccazarles la pelea\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aun as\u00ed, hay un extenso grupo de compradores que prefieren a la casa nipona, y un sed\u00e1n deportivo con buen rendimiento de Lexus lo recibir\u00e1n con exaltaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Roger Rivero es un periodista independiente, miembro de NAHJ, la Asociaci\u00f3n nacional de periodistas Hispanos y de NWAPA, la Asociaci\u00f3n de periodistas automovil\u00edsticos del noroeste.
