Thanks to Ana Rodriguez, we visited Adelanto, CA, San Bernardino County (SB535) to talk to the Hispanic community and electric car adoption. To our surprise, we found out that there is a single charging unit in the city of 38,000 residents. The BLINK unit is located at the Adelanto School District office. We must mention that the BLINK chargers are set up as a profit center for those who host them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From all participants, we found that only one person knew about the incentives from the state that could be applied for the purchase of an EV. Sixty-eight percent of the city residents are Hispanics and those present voiced that without chargers, there was no point in even thinking about electric cars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As much as we commend the state’s efforts, the communication programs must be restructured. Hence, those that could benefit most from clean transportation have the infrastructure and assistance to adopt zero-emission vehicles. HMP President has directed the board to look into new programs to assist with information dissemination to our Hispanic communities and reach out to the state during 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracias a Ana Rodr\u00edguez, visitamos Adelanto, CA, condado de San Bernardino (SB535) para hablar con la comunidad hispana y la adopci\u00f3n de autom\u00f3viles el\u00e9ctricos. Para nuestra sorpresa, descubrimos que hay una sola unidad de carga en la ciudad de 38.000 habitantes. La unidad BLINK est\u00e1 ubicada en la oficina del Distrito Escolar de Adelanto. Debemos mencionar que los cargadores BLINK est\u00e1n configurados como un centro de ganancias para quienes los alojan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De todos los participantes, encontramos que solo una persona conoc\u00eda los incentivos del estado que se podr\u00edan aplicar para la compra de un EV. El sesenta y ocho por ciento de los residentes de la ciudad son hispanos y los presentes expresaron que sin cargadores, no ten\u00eda sentido siquiera pensar en autos el\u00e9ctricos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
