HMP made a special presentation about EV cars and their adoption in Victorville. This community is designated SB535 Disadvantaged Community under CalEPA. The results are surprising as it seems that the Hispanic Consumer in the area is not being reached or informed about the upcoming transition to “clean vehicles” in the state. A good mix of age groups provided a better overall meeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As expected, the inquiries regarding purchasing an electric car received similar responses to previous outreach outings. But one hundred percent of the participants were unaware of the state incentives. This event is one more example that the state’s efforts are not directed at those it is trying to help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixty percent of the attendees would consider an EV for their daily commute, but the most significant concern is the high price of such vehicles. There is a need to create better programs to educate these communities. The participants understand the global issues regarding the degradation of our environment, and all agree that certain measures should be taken to minimize harmful gases. They are more than willing to learn more about what they can do to help. Future programs will need more involvement from state officials so that they can see the gap in understanding the EV market from one community to the next in our state. HMP hizo una presentaci\u00f3n especial sobre los autos EV y su adopci\u00f3n en Victorville. Esta comunidad est\u00e1 designada como Comunidad Desfavorecida SB535 bajo CalEPA.
