Our volunteer journalists helped answer questions at the LA Convention Center during America’s most significant new car show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with the LA Autoshow, the HPM display booth had constant traffic and served to learn about consumer interest in electric cars. Our target was to collect 1000 impressions from the traffic through our booth, where we displayed the KIA EV6 EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. During the show, we gathered 872 responses to our questionnaire. One hundred percent of the participants were from the  Hispanic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surrounded by all the new cars on display, the Hispanic consumer had the opportunity to sample all kinds of conventional vehicles and EVs. However, their interest in an EV car is not their immediate choice for daily transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost 85% said they would not consider an electric car to replace their current vehicle. The first reason is the additional initial cost compared to a similar car. Second is the fear of unknown technology requiring dealer-only repairs, which could be expensive. The third is the inability to charge or the necessary time to recharge the batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise shows that a lot of education still needs to be done to make the community understand the why of this new technology and the benefits of a less polluting vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consumer response data to the questionnaire was shared with LAAutoshow and some car manufacturers. The full report is available upon request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestros periodistas voluntarios ayudaron a responder preguntas en el Centro de Convenciones de Los \u00c1ngeles durante la exhibici\u00f3n de autos nuevos m\u00e1s importante de Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junto con LA Autoshow, el puesto de exhibici\u00f3n de HPM tuvo un tr\u00e1fico constante y sirvi\u00f3 para conocer el inter\u00e9s de los consumidores por los autos el\u00e9ctricos. Nuestro objetivo era recopilar 1000 impresiones del tr\u00e1fico a trav\u00e9s de nuestro stand, donde mostramos el KIA EV6 EV y el Hyundai Kona EV. Rodeado de todos los autos nuevos en exhibici\u00f3n, el consumidor hispano tuvo la oportunidad de probar todo tipo de veh\u00edculos convencionales y el\u00e9ctricos. Sin embargo, su inter\u00e9s en un autom\u00f3vil EV no es su elecci\u00f3n inmediata para el transporte diario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casi el 85% dijo que no considerar\u00eda un autom\u00f3vil el\u00e9ctrico para reemplazar su veh\u00edculo actual. La primera raz\u00f3n es el costo inicial adicional en comparaci\u00f3n con un autom\u00f3vil similar. En segundo lugar, est\u00e1 el temor de que la tecnolog\u00eda desconocida requiera reparaciones solo por parte del distribuidor, lo que podr\u00eda ser costoso. El tercero es la imposibilidad de cargar o el tiempo necesario para recargar las bater\u00edas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El ejercicio muestra que a\u00fan queda mucha educaci\u00f3n por hacer para que la comunidad entienda el por qu\u00e9 de esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda y los beneficios de un veh\u00edculo menos contaminante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
